Here's the road sign for the hamlet of Shitterton on the edge of Bere Regis in Dorset, England.
Shitterton means "farmstead on the stream used as an open sewer" and derives from an Old English word Scite, meaning dung. and has been thus for over 1000 years. Shitterton was rebranded Sitterton by the prudish Victorians but made a come back to the point that it's current sign has carved into a lump of granite to prohibit it getting liberated in the night!
